The Board of Central High International School recognizes that field trips and excursions are important components of a student’s development. Field trips and excursions are educationally sound and an important ingredient to the instructional program of CHIS.
Such activities supplement and enrich classroom learning and encourage new interests among students, make them more aware of community resources and help students relate their educational experience to the outside world. Properly planned and executed, field trips and excursions enrich the CHIS’S educational program and the social development of the students.
Field trips and excursions are to be planned and carried out with safety as a priority and in a manner that minimizes the charter school’s legal liability and financial cost.
The Field Trips & Excursion Committee of Central High International School recognizes that field trips, international excursions, class trips, and co-curricular trips can provide students with an effective and worthwhile means of learning and growing. The School Committee encourages those activities that reinforce classroom instruction and promote healthy social development.
Field trips are designed to stimulate student interest and inquiry and provide opportunities for social grown and development are considered appropriate extensions of the classroom.
Field trips, at Central High International School, are intended to stimulate student interest and inquiry, providing them with insights, information, or knowledge that cannot be adequately developed through regular classroom instruction. Therefore, all field trips are directly related to classroom learning activities which, at Central High International School, may also include one orientation and class-building activity per year, per class.
